my creative 2016 part I

Bild
2016 is coming to an end, and I feel like I want to summarize the year in some way. I’m not really interested in talking about what I’ve been up to, but I would like to look back at what I’ve made. I’ve done this for a few years now, and it’s always such a great confidence boost haha. To be honest I feel like I’ve had one of the most intense years of my life when it comes to creating, so I have a lot to summarize. I had my first ever exhibition (together with Alicia ) where I exhibited my photo manipulations. Looking back I don’t really feel like they were that great, and I hope I get a chance to have an exhibition during 2017 too and show my new work. I also discovered a completely new way of working  that I’ve been completely obsessed with, and have for the first time ever focused on one single technique for longer than a month at a time. And it actually feels great! I thought I would’ve gotten bored by now, but I keep tweak...

the weather outside / monthly makers: christmas

Bild
So the theme for Monthly Makers this month is CHRISTMAS. I love Christmas, but wasn’t really feeling the Christmas crafts this year. So yet again I started the old thinking engine to try and come up with a way to make something digitally. And the only thing I came up with was like winter, ice and the colour blue. And then a few days later I tried out something called fractal art for the first time. I used Apophysis and Chaotica, followed two tutorials, tweaked the numbers and stuff and ended up with three images that looked like some mix of snowflakes, pine trees and just something frozen. And I was like “that’s the stuff!”. I added some blurry particles/stars in Photoshop, edited the colours and contrast a little bit and then I was done. (It sounds like this was super quick but it took quite a few hours actually. Especially rendering the images. Ugh.) And so today, on the day of Lucia, I am sharing with you my creations! I hope you’ll create someth...

plants! cats! walls! yay!

When I showed you all the street art I saw in Valencia I told you I would tell you about the rest of that day some other time. I’m gonna be honest with you – I forgot about that. But then I remembered, so it’s all good. So time to look at our visit to the botanical garden in Valencia. Jardí Botanic is located right outside the old wall that used to protect the center of the city, and we walked to the garden from our tour through Carmen. The wall was pretty epic and impossible to take pictures of. 🙁 The special thing about this garden is that it’s the home of a bunch of stray cats, and there are apparently people taking care of them and feeding them. <3 Cats and plants, like too good to be true.  It was hard to take pictures of the place as the trees were GIGANTIC, but the air felt so fresh and it was absolutely wonderful to walk around in the garden and just breathe. And look at the fish. I only really started taking pictures when we got to the area for...

not feeling "worthy" as an artist

Bild
Alternative title : How to not feel like a lesser artist the Jessica Andersdotter way: think about it! Also: Way too long post with some random pictures to make it lighter And lastly: Kind of interesting actually.  Sup guys. What’s crackalackin? Personally I’m kind of excited, because I’ve been having ~*thinking sessions*~ about my ~*art*~ and had some ~*insights*~. The reason behind this is actually called “art school”. More specifically “application for art school”, where I need to write a kind of description of myself as an artist. Which seemed really hard but turned out to be MIND BLOWING and SO MUCH FUN. So today we’re gonna discuss my identity as an artist a little bit (a lot bit actually), and my journey to finally maybe feeling like I’m actually a “worthy” artist. The rational part of my brain has known that me not being “worthy” is utter bullshit for a while now, but then there’s that ins...
