5th blogiversary!

Guess what! Today’s my blogiversary! Five years ago today I decided to start blogging, and I’m so happy I did because it has all meant so much to me. It has been a long journey and I’ve gone from not even calling what I do crafting to calling myself an artist, and it’s all thanks to this blog.

To celebrate this magnificent birthday I thought we’d go through the archives and look at what I’ve been up to during these years. Warning! Long post.

2010

My first blog post. This might not be much fun for you non-swedes but it’s basically just “Hi hello. This is the blog where I blog. Cool huh?”

I studied photography in school, was part of a photo exhibition at the photography fair with the pictures above, went for walks with my friend with a rainbow coloured umbrella, voted for the first time and had this assignment in school where we had to recreate the lighting from a picture taken outside a cloudy day with studio lights (spoiler: it was impossible). Oh I also knitted my first scarf. It’s ugly, I know. I blogged about a lot of uninteresting things that year, like what knots I had learned that day in a scout meeting. I hope you were all taking notes.

2011

2011 was a bit better blog wise. Let’s take a look.

I worked a lot on my third year project for school where I made a book with double exposures.

Went for a hike with my scout friends and looked at dramatic views. Also no one brought water for this hike. Such pros. All through 2011 I had this project together with two of my closest friends where we made a collage for every month and put it into wall calendars. It was the best project ever. The left one is mine.
I was part of an exhibition that was also our last assignment for the photography course in school. Those three years studying photography were so great, and I seriously miss developing pictures in the darkroom. :'(

And then I graduated!!! That’s me and my friends in our fancy graduation caps and white dresses. 

A few days later me and my scout friends went InterRailing through Europe! We hiked the mountains in Switzerland and walked around Rome for a few days.
That trip also included the most beautiful view I’ve seen to this day, up high in the mountains as the clouds slowly came creeping in over the valley. It was so beautiful I can’t even.That year I also made a miniature necklace version of the swedish Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.And I knitted my second scarf. This one is a lot better than the first one, mostly because I actually used a really nice yarn for it. I was a bit cheap with the first one. I used this until I made myself a new one a year ago. It’s the best.
The autumn after I graduated I started studying a preparation course for the engineering program (since I had studied photography and other artsy things I needed like maths and chemistry) but had problems from a bronchitis earlier that year so I had to leave before Christmas. :))) Why am I always sick??? That’s the real question.

2012

Anyway, to have something to do the following spring I studied Tove Jansson at Stockholms university and had a reason to buy all the Moomin-books. We finished that calendar project during january 2012 and made covers for the calendars. Yet again the left one is mine. I started felting a lot and made clouds to put birds on. Made a sparkling book. Knitted my third scarf – my very own Gryffindor-scarf. Started felting animals and made like 15 different animals. I might show them again one day. They all have names. Took a couple of dark pictures of grass. Yup. And made my wands!

2013

We moved to a tiny but lovely apartment! I met Alicia for the first time and we planned all the ways we would change the world. And THE BEST THING EVER: went to get my cat Lumos. Made my first digital collages. Made a couple of regular collages.Went out a foggy morning and took some magical pictures. Made my first space lamp! This was so big for me, because I was so happy with this, and still am. Hence me selling them. CHECK OUT MY STORE HERE HEH. Did some mixed media art with flowers. And more flowers. This was kind of a new version of the sparkly one, but more Alice in Wonderland.

2014

During 2014 I was mostly just sick with my meningitis, but I got some stuff done!Like this embroidered bird in space. Made more space happen with this lamp shade. Made another flowery book, this time with real, dried flowers. Much harder and impossible to store nowadays. Like where am I supposed to put all these things??Applied to an open exhibition at the photography museum in Stockholm and didn’t get in. Whatever. I didn’t want to anyway. Took a lot of pictures of my beautiful cat. I applied to another art exhibition (Liljevalchs Vårsalong) and got rejected again buT WHATEVER I DIDN’T WANT TO ANYWAY. But honestly, it was never really about getting in, it was about gathering the courage to actually apply.

2015!!! (that’s this year)

Started Monthly Makers, a project where we – me and a group of blogger friends – challenge you and everyone else to create something based on a theme every month. I started it off by making this paper bird. Read more about Monthly Makers here. Did some white on white embroidery. Was it worth the hours? I’m not sure. I started calling what I do art!! SO HUGE. LIKE WHO EVEN DOES THAT HAHA. Created another glittery book for Monthly Makers. And some roses. The theme that month was clay. I showed you my room in preparation for our move! Ripped paper into mountains. And then I was the hostess for Monthly Makers May with the theme MAGIC (I know, perfect right!) and made some digital collages with stars and space and magic. You can see them all here.Challenged myself to stick to one technique for an entire month, and learned a lot about myself.And of course I made some cool stuff. And now we’re closing in on today and I’ve mostly been wallpapering and unpacking because we moved to this fantastic house! Most recently I changed the design and even more recently I started blogging in English. Things are changing, but I think it’s a good way to celebrate my five years of blogging.
