monthly makers: inspired by nature

Art that has been inspired by nature, all in preparation for this months Monthly Makers. So the theme for this months Monthly Makers is nature, and going through my archives I discovered that I’ve made A LOT of things inspired by nature in one way or another. It seems to have been a big deal to me, since taking pictures of flowers is what got me into photography, painting birds was my main way to express myself as a child, and when packing my materials for the move there were two big boxes filled with nothing but artificial flowers.

Anyway, let’s take a look at what I’ve created inspired by nature.

"Painting the roses red" by Jessica Andersdotter, mixed media creation using a book and artificial flowers.
Firstly there is painting the roses red, my mixed media creation using a book and my favourite artificial roses ever. Florals & literature by Jessica Andersdotter, mixed media.
I made a rose book 2.0 and used real, dried flowers instead. I hope this one survived the move.

Clay roses by Jessica AndersdotterAnd more roses! This time made out of clay for Monthly Makers a few months back. Paper raven by Jessica Andersdotter, paper art, black,
And then of course we have my paper raven. It feels like I’ve talked a lot about this recently, but my neck hurt so much after making it so I should be allowed to talk about it. That’s a valid argument, right? "the fox" by Jessica Andersdotter, white on white embroidery, textile art, fiber art.
I embroidered an arctic fox with white on white embroidery. Clay rabbit by Jessica AndersdotterFor Easter I made myself an Easter bunny in clay.20150201_3552And I’ve also embroidered a dove in space. 20130829_0044
I made a pair of brooches shaped like antlers that make me feel super powerful. Taking over the world one brooch at a time.130802_9161Created another mixed media piece out of a broken concrete vase and some flowers. It wasn’t Lumos who broke the vase, I promise.130724_9003Space is nature right? Let’s say it is, because then I can include my space lamp! I won’t sell this particular one, but you can buy other ones here. "Ashes" by Jessica Andersdotter, dramatic digital collages with fire, a swan and some flowers. And then we have a bunch of digital collages that are inspired by nature. This particular set is a pretty dramatic depiction of nature, but it’s still nature. NATURE IS EVERYTHING.

Digital collages by Jessica Andersdotter, featuring trees, mountains and stars. And of course we have these mountain/tree/star-digicollages that I made when the theme was Magic for Monthly Makers.Kaleidoscope by Jessica Andersdotter, moving gifs with a mirrored effect
There are the mysterious gifs I made for the Monthly Makers-theme patterns.
"Nox xoN" by Jessica Andersdotter, 2015 Kaleidoscope mirror imagesFor the same theme I made another set of pictures where I remixed an old favourite, nox, and made them kaleidoscopic.
"every sky" by Jessica Andersdotter, digital collageThis set is also OBVIOUSLY nature and was made when I challenged myself to only work with one technique for a month. Good times, eh?växtenhuset
Then of course there are the double exposures I made for a project in school.}
And some regular photography. TIME FOR RANDOM NATURE PICS!DSC_53352DSC_53372Projecet_20090704_0428

And that’s pretty much everything I’m going to show you today! It’s quite a lot, but tbh nature is probably the best thing ever.
I’ve linked back to the original post on everything that has an original post, because like it’s hard to link to an original post when it doesn’t exist.

What do you guys think of nature as a theme for Monthly Makers?
