Monthly Makers advent calendar: DIY cloud

It’s time for me to open a door for the Monthly Makers advent calendar 2015! This DIY is more of a gift than a Christmas decoration really, and it’s this floofy and nice looking cloud to decorate your home with.
It’s really easy and works for anyone, I mean… only crazy people would say no to having their very own cloud! And also you could make tiny ones and hang in your tree if you want.

What you’ll need:

• Wadding
• Felting needle
• Scissors
• Fishing line

Instructions:

Start by just grabbing some wadding, the amount depends on what size you want your cloud to be. You can always add and remove wadding later, so just grab whatever amount you get.

Start sticking the needle in the wadding over and over again, as this – through the magic of felting – will slowly start to shape it. To get an area to “sink in”, just stick the needle there a few times. This will also make it firmer, as you’re making it stick together. It’s all pretty easy and intuitive – just play around with it. I make them like I used to draw clouds as a kid, with a flat downside and the rest just cloudy, if you get what I mean. It doesn’t really matter much as you’re using white fluffy stuff – it’s bound to look like a cloud anyway. Do whatever makes you happy. Just keep working until you get the shape you want and the cloud holds together. If you want your cloud to be bigger, just grab some more wadding and fasten it to the cloud in a good place by sticking the needle through it a couple of times. Something like that! And then thread the fishing line through the top of the cloud. You might need a needle for this but probably not.And then you’re done! You can hang it anywhere really, make small ones to have in your Christmas tree or larger ones in windows or above your bed.It looks great anywhere.
