first day at my new school!
So I started school two weeks ago. It was exciting and nervous and crazy. It felt unreal as I was waiting for the bus, the morning air damp against my skin, the first sun of the day warming my cheeks and every thought ever being thought at once.
That first day was spectacular and sososo tiring. I wasn’t ready for how tired I’d be from starting school again, and how hard it would be to go back to normal after three inactive years of illness and headaches.
But back to my first day. The teachers all welcomed us with a song about the school. Like, it was not like we all sang it with our own melody, but we very well could have. Am I at Hogwarts? Probably. After introducing all the different classes and teachers they welcomed every single student by giving them a sunflower. WE GOT SUNFLOWERS. Sunflowers from the schools own garden. I think Professor Sprout went to get them or something, I don’t actually remember. The sunflowers stood all mighty and powerful on a table in our classroom for the first week, until they wilted and were thrown out. I will miss those sunflowers, and I greatly regret not taking pictures of them.
After the sunflower ceremony our teacher guided us to the classroom and we all sat down in the sofas in the middle of the room. Yeah, we have sofas, and they’re quite comfy, which wasn’t really optimal for listening to information about schedules and weeks and plans for a few hours, but we took a break and went outside to drink some tea in the sun so it all worked out fine.
The classroom it pretty brilliant. It’s this gigantic room with massive windows, and there are tables along the windows and walls. We all got to choose a table, and I chose a corner one. Corners. <3 I get to be alone and no one sits behind me and I’m very happy about it.
And then we had lunch. The lunch restaurant is pretty fantastic, it’s all organic and vegetarian food cooked in the kitchen by a great chef, and we had FRESH BAKED BREAD. IT WAS STILL WARM. Ugh so great. After lunch we just had a little meeting with the group again, and then we had nothing more planned. The thing about this school and where I live is that there aren’t a lot of buses in a day. Like four. Literally, the bus stops at the school four times in a day. Haha. So I had to stay until four anyway, and me and a few of the people living at the school (most people are, by the way) went down to the lake.
And it was such a sunny day and the lake was beautiful and the sound of my classmates flip-flops made me feel like it was summer and everything was safe and perfect. I don’t have ANY PICTURES of ANY OF THIS as I felt too awkward to even get out my phone because NEW PEOPLE but meh.
And then we took another way back and explored a little bit and saw like a million frogs and the grass was so wet my shoes were soaked but it was all fine. And then me and one girl from my class hung out in our classroom until the bus came. And that was the first day.
The second day we sat outside and drew flowers with crayons. Conclusion: I hate crayons. During the week we tried both dry pastels and oil pastels and I hated them both haha. SO MESSY AND IMPOSSIBLE?!?!
And then the third day I just didn’t have the energy to go to school.
And then the fourth day I went home at 12.
And then the fifth day I didn’t go at all.
And last week I was there until 12 three times, and home for two whole days.
As I said, I hadn’t quite realised how tough this would be. And it will probably take some time before I can be there full weeks. But I’m working on it.
Because I want more days like that first one. I’m going to get to try out so many new materials and techniques at this school. We’ve been painting with watercolors for the past week, and honestly that’s not really my thing either. We had a day where we would all model for the class (haha worst ten minutes of my life) and paint quick paintings of each other, and it was SO hard. But it’s kinda fun anyway, even though it’s not really my thing. I’m looking forward to sculpture and ceramics though.
I’ll keep you posted! <3
Also, tip of the day: Mikaela posted the compilation of all the creations for Monthly Makers theme “Pearls” a few days ago! It’s in Swedish, but a lot of great creations! Check it out here!
