the wave / Monthly Makers: letters & words
My recent lack of blogging has meant that I haven’t even mentioned what the latest theme for Monthly Makers is! If you don’t know, Monthly Makers is a creative challenge me and eleven other bloggers arrange, where we release a theme for every month to inspire you to create! More info at the end of this post.
But the theme is “Letters & Words” and I just love this theme so much. I started making pixel sortings with words initially, but I didn’t really feel it, and after a day of making collages in school I just really wanted to make a collage.
I made it in a new way for me though, and used watercolours to paint paper that I used in the collage, which gave me a lot more control over colours than using pages from a magazine would!
And oh, I painted pages from books! That’s the “words” part.
I let the pages dry and then tore them apart to get this white edge that I love so much. And what did I create?
Well there’s a starry night sky and a moon. And something blue.
A wave! Shamelessly inspired by Hokusai’s “The Great Wave”. I used acrylic paint to make the stars but the rest is just torn pages from books painted with watercolours.
So this is it! I love the different shades of blue and the way the torn paper looks like the waves with their white edges! And that was what I created for this month!
