my creative life #9

I’ve struggled this week. I’ve wanted to create, but everything just felt stupid and boring. So I complained a lil bit about it on Instagram a few days ago, and got the advice to try creating with a diferent technique! And I mean, 2 years ago that would’ve been so obvious to me. That’s what I did back then, jumping from technique to technique trying completely new things constantly. I even challenged myself to only use one technique for a month a few years ago and found it so limiting and honestly it was a real struggle. And here I am after creating almost exclusively digitally – most of it with the exact same method as well – for months and months and I’m surprised I have a creative block. WEIRD HUH.  So yeah, I took the advice and picked up the SuperSculpey I got for Christmas. And I made a lil fawn. <3 Here it is before I painted it! I almost prefer it like that, because paint is stupid and wouldn’t do what I wanted it to!!!!!...

Erica Coburn and her dreamy photographs and soothing light

Bild
I keep finding new and amazing artists recently. THERE ARE JUST SO MANY GREAT ONES OUT THERE. My latest favourite is Irish photographer Erica Coburn . There is just such an intense dreaminess in her images. And the liiiiiiiiight. Ahh. It soothes me. Let’s take a look! There’s something about all of Erica’s work that makes me think of spring. Might just be because it’s spring right now. There’s warmth and safety and the smell of grass.   The colour palette is soft and natural but still out of this world, and it’s just so hard to describe! Basically it’s all so soft and pretty and I just can’t take it. Follow Erica Coburn on Facebook here . Other places: Instagram , Hitrecord ,  blog , Flickr .

my creative life #8

Ayoooooooooo! Time to creative life it up again! The most exciting thing I’ve made this past week is probs this self portrait-thingy. I decided I wanted something new as a profile pic on my socials, and I want it to show my face + my art in some way so I experimented a while until I came up with this! The actual pic of me is kinda old though, but I need a new remote for my camera in order to take new pics of myself. So I just used this picture I had from like a year and a half ago. Other than that I’ve made a few “basic” pixel sorting images! Evelyn!  Luanna!  Runa.  Winona.  I made the Halcyon-series for Monthly Makers. For The Crate Challenge on Hitrecord I made this! Absolutely adored SarahPalisi’s illustration of the house. <3 See all the resources used linked here .  Right after I made that self portrait at the top of the post CaptClare issued a challenge for glitching photography on Hitrecord. SO MUCH FUN. I used a simple app and Photoshop to g...

monthly makers animals / halcyon

Bild
Hey!!! So today it’s time to show you what I’ve made for Monthly Makers this month! Here’s the sneak peek I published on Instagram a few days ago:  If you didn’t know, Monthly Makers is a creative challenge me and eleven other blogger arrange where we issue a prompt/challenge each month to inspire people to create! This month the prompt was “Animals”, and while I’ve created quite a lot of animals in clay and felt and just anything through my days, it’s pretty far away from what I’m creating currently. Which is why my first attempt was something that actually is pretty far away from what I spend most of my time creating right now! I tried to create a collage with public domain-resources and make something with a deer and flowers. But the process was boring and the result was messy and I didn’t even finish it. So I went on to trying to make something using my images from the aquarium in Valencia , specifically the jellyfish...

how to: prism photography

Bild
Coming at you with a guide for prism photography today! Fun times! I’ve been meaning to do this for ages but I finally got around to it!  So photography was my main creative outlet for years, but I kind of grew tired of it a few years ago. And then I discovered prism photography, and it’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had with a camera! I think I discovered it when I read a post like this about Sam Hurd . I started out by using a simple plastic prism we had in our Christmas tree, so anything works really, but the quality might not be that great.  You can see those pictures here . The prism I’ve mainly been using is this one. It’s a glass optical prism, and I have no idea what they’re actually for, but I think mine costed 5-10 dollars on eBay. It’s always filled with fingerprints (note to self: don’t use as a murder weapon) but it works good all the same. So here’s the big secret: hold the prism in front of your lens!  I usually...

songs I listen to while creating

Bild
Music is an important part of my creative process. I always listen to music while creating, and what I listen to greatly influences what I create. So today I thought I’d share with you a few songs that I’ve been listening to a lot while creating recently! ionnalee – Samaritan I found out a few days ago (!!) that Jonna Lee (aka iamamiwhoami) had released something new as ionnalee. AND I DIDN’T KNOW. AND IT’S BRILLIANT. I could’ve listened to this for a whole month but haven’t! I’m very upset! Anyway, the audiovisual above made me confused and emotional as usual with Jonna Lee haha. <3 Jonathan Johansson – Old News Jonathan Johansson falls under my top ten when it comes to music. I just love him so much. (Lebensraum is probs my most listened to album.) I haven’t listened to Love & Devotion that much yet but Old News has been running on repeat quite a lot. Heh. Vérité – Somebody Else This is a cover of a 1975 song...

my creative life #7

Bild
Hello and welcome! It’s been another week and it’s time to look at what I’ve been up creatively. I’m currently sat in a quite messy kitchen with a cup of coffee and a few pieces of candy I stole from the batch we bought for the Easter eggs this weekend. Hehe. WHO’S GONNA STOP ME. Me and my mother spent the morning cleaning and decorating a little bit for the weekend, arranged the bouquet of peony tulips (!) we bought yesterday and put out some pretty table cloths. I’ve also put out the little clay bunny that I made a few years ago!  It’s what I need right now. The past week has been stormy and wild. It has ripped through me like a tornado. Last weekend we bought some other flowers and combined them with blueberry sprigs . I love using blueberry sprigs in bouquets in spring. They’re so wild and natural and they’re great for creating structure for the flowers. <3 The first picture is taken with my prism, but the second one i...
