my creative life #15
Hello again! Time for another recap of my recent creative adventures!
A few weeks ago our little hepatica plant was in full bloom, so I went out and took some pictures of it! And then I made it pink, because I can’t resist some pink. I really like these images! I actually used a large light purple paper that I put up behind them to get a more soft and calm background.
I had two days where I was just obsessed with these abstract digital shapes, and while I actually really liked them then I quickly became insecure about them, but you know what? I love this! I’m gonna make some more.
I made this one, which is called “Alys”, and I love the colours so much! There’s just something special about a peachy orange which turns into pink which turns into magenta.
Made this while I was still doing the whole negative space thing (which I talked about in this blog post). I’m not really doing that anymore, it was a fun challenge, I liked the results and learned a lot, but ultimately I don’t want to limit myself to making things a certain way ever. If I want to go more is more, I’ll go more is more. The weird thing about this one is that I wasn’t too pleased about it – I think it looks a bit awkward how the width of the glitchy part coming out of the flower doesn’t match any movement within the petals – but people really seemed to love this one. Weird.
Tried out some kind of digital collage-method using things I’ve made previously. I don’t know what I think of this.
Made these two – two versions of the same image – and couldn’t decide which one I liked best, so I asked on my Instagram Story and I mean I think blue won with 60% of the votes, which isn’t landslide but still. I like that the orange one feels so autumny though.
“Bullet” is another one I made with negative space in mind. I like that it looks a bit like a heart!
These two are both made from photographs I’ve taken, both of nature (a coral reef and some flowers) and I quite like how they’re almost fading away. It’s a kind of very obvious symbolism, but I like it anyway.
“Traces” is a series I finished yesterday, and I’m really happy with it. (Can you see how I’m not really negative spacing it anymore?) It’s made from photographs of flowing paint that I’ve edited quite a lot.
That was it for this time!
Other things:
- My computer has started slowly dying, and it’s real annoying when most of what you make is in Photoshop. I’ve had to lower the resolution of my files quite a lot to even be able to make anything, and it’s SAD.
- Have you seen pictures from the Met Gala? ZENDAYA’S DRESS??? I’m still so blown away. Also the fact that Amber Heard DIYed (?? how do I spell that haha) her crown.
- Tove Styrke’s new album is GREAT.
