roses of fire

Bild
I got inspired one day and decided to take pictures of some old dried roses that I had lying around, and it turned out to be some pretty darn usable pictures for my digital art. I have several projects in which I’ve used these pictures, but first off we have these roses of fire! Kinda smouldering and magical but also clean and simple. I really like them. Also they’re way better in a bigger version, so I recommend clicking the pictures to get a larger version! What do you guys think? Oh and friends, today is the day of the compilation for this months Monthly Makers. It’s over at Mikaela’s blog, check it out! SO MUCH GOOD STUFF.

creative challenge / 7. create something out of an old piece of clothing

Bild
To create something out of an old piece of clothing was, to say the least, a difficult challenge during a time when I only want to work digitally. But somehow I worked it out! A while ago I bought these really old aprons in lace on Tradera, and the fabric is just so beautiful. So I built myself a little studio – white paper on top of a box in front of a window – and took some pictures to use in my digital stuff. I took some different pictures, I tried it with the fabric all scrunched up and then smooth so that I’d be able to see what looked best in the computer and not have to re-shoot. Turns out the scrunched up ones looked better! Also made this version, but I think I prefer the simpler ones. But I also love fire… I DON’T KNOW. Which ones do you like best? Help me pls. Creative Challenge 2014-2015: Create something… 1. out of a book ✔ 2. out of newspaper clippings ✔ 3. using a computer ✔ 4. out of wool ✔ 5. out of glue ✔ 6. out of words ✔ 7. out of ...

a perfect autumn day

Bild
I decided to take a complete day off studying the other day and just do nice things all day. It was great, and turned out to be one of the most relaxing days in a long time. First of all, me and my mother went to get some honey from some local bees! Okay, we didn’t actually get it from the bees themselves, but from the person who has the bees. I’m not friends with any bees, sadly. The honey was SO DELICIOUS. Bees are the best. Seriously, they’re so cute and fluffy and if you ever hate on a bee believing it’s a wasp I will disown you. I’m not kidding. That wasn’t all I did though, as I also got into this creative flow and just sat in my room making stuff all night, which is one of my favourite things. Man, it was just the best day. Nothing beats a nice creative flow. Well, some things might. One thing that might is the pie I made earlier that day! (I’m being modest again.) I finally got to take advantage of the fact that we have a proper gar...

i have a facebook page!

Bild
Yes, it’s true! It feels kinda crazy and weird to make a whole facebook page for yourself, but I’m happy I did. The only reason I haven’t had one before is because I’ve been TERRIFIED of getting like five likes haha. So please like me!!!! <- too real. Here’s the link. Anyway, this all happened last night, when I told my dear friend Alicia that I was thinking about getting a page for myself but was a bit scared to do it. And then of course – because we’re always in sync – she had just closed her “create a page” tab thinking “nah”. Coincidence? I think not! So we decided we’d do it together and help each other through the process. You know how I said it’s the best thing ever to have a Creative BFF? Well it still is. I totally wouldn’t have done this without her! Thank you, my dear friend. We giggled all the way and were kind of ashamed and embarrassed because this felt like such a self-cente...

monthly makers nature: burning skies

Bild
So I’ve finished my creations for this months Monthly Makers challenge, which was nature . I got inspired by all the digital stuff in my inspired by nature-post and got to work almost immediately. Wooh, inspiration! I seem to be so obsessed with the digital stuff at the moment, it’s all I want to do, and I enjoy doing it so much. I kind of like that it is clean and easy and not as messy as doing something in clay or making a collage. I get more time to actually be creative and have to spend less time preparing and cleaning up. And I also like how it makes me feel, I change how things look entirely with just one click of the mouse. I’m the god of the little worlds I create. It’s great. #hubris Anyway, Mikaela will publish her creation on Friday, and then it’s time for you to share your own creations in the comments! I’m looking forward so much to seeing all your creations!!! Nature is just the best What is Monthly Makers? A creative challenge f...

creative challenge / 6. create something out of words

Bild
I know it’s supposed to be great that a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes I find it easier to express a clear emotion when I use less words. Like, a thousand words – that’s great – but one word will always be just one word and will forever be more succinct and clear. Words were a really great starting point for a creative challenge, as I find it easy to express my first emotion by just writing, kind of like a stream of consciousness. I just got started, and that was the best thing about it. Well okay, I was thinking a little bit about what to do for a while, as I  was debating doing a blackout poem, but I ended up just writing the words that came to me and putting them on top of a picture. Nothing revolutionising, but a creation nonetheless. Thank you, Creative Challenge. Anyway, enough pretentiousness. The challenge for this week is to create something out of an old piece of clothing . We’ll see how this goes as I got rid of a lot of s...

thrifted: the perfect miniature shelf

Bild
I’m so obsessed with old things it’s crazy, like looking around at websites of auctions with like old decorative things is one of my favourite pastimes. And sometimes I find the most magical things. Well most of the time I find magical things. THERE ARE TOO MANY PRETTY THINGS OUT THERE. Anyway, recently I found this PERFECT little thing and I couldn’t not buy it because I love it so so much. So here it is, it’s this amazing little miniature shelf for keeping everything important in. It’s the perfect combination of brass, glass and mirror and is standing on these adorable little round feet. Isn’t it perfect? I’m so in love. The mirror just makes it twice as amazing and IMAGINE keeping pretty things in it. It will seem like you have twice as many pretty things!!! Like magic. Or The Sims. (I always wished I could copy things I owned and buy more of them like in The Sims. Or delete stuff. Like dirty dishes. And then magically pull some new plate...

monthly makers: inspired by nature

Bild
So the theme for this months Monthly Makers is nature, and going through my archives I discovered that I’ve made A LOT of things inspired by nature in one way or another. It seems to have been a big deal to me, since taking pictures of flowers is what got me into photography, painting birds was my main way to express myself as a child, and when packing my materials for the move there were two big boxes filled with nothing but artificial flowers. Anyway, let’s take a look at what I’ve created inspired by nature. Firstly there is painting the roses red, my mixed media creation using a book and my favourite artificial roses ever.  I made a rose book 2.0 and used real, dried flowers instead. I hope this one survived the move. And more roses! This time made out of clay for Monthly Makers a few months back. And then of course we have my paper raven. It feels like I’ve talked a lot about this recently, but my neck hurt so much after making it so I should be allow...
