Monthly Makers October: Yarn

Bild
It’s almost the end of October, and it’s getting to that time where we’ll get to see what everyone has done for this months Monthly Makers-challenge. Best time of the month, tbh. Beata is hosting this challenge, and the word to get inspiration from is “yarn”. I have made some spooky Halloween decorations where I’ve used yarn to hang these paper bats in our sea buckthorn branch we have as a decoration! Spooktacular, very easy and effective. They don’t really show that well in pictures because of our amazing William Morris-wallpaper but yeah, you get the idea. Cute little bats. And black yarn to hang them with! Beata will be posting her creation 25th on her blog . Comment there with your creation if you want to be a part of Monthly Makers this month and also be a part of the compilation of creations! What is Monthly Makers? A creative challenge for anyone to participate in as many times as they want to. 12 themes, 12 blogs, 12 months. One th...

DIY Halloween Wreath

Bild
It’s the third Halloween Wednesday, and I’ve got another Halloween DIY for you! This one is kind of a combination of my two previous ones, but it’s a DIY Halloween Wreath. I really love it and it’s really easy to make even though it does take a while. But it looks great! Materials: Twigs Wire Something to cut the wire with Black paint A brush Glue gun White paper Black paper A pen (Yes, I forgot to take a picture of half of these things. Oops.) Instructions: Start by making a bendy twig into a large circle. Twist the ends around the twig to make it stay together. Wrap wire around the circle to make it more sturdy and enable you to shape it a little. (My twig wasn’t bendy enough so it was hard to shape it, so start with a skinnier one.) Then start gluing twigs to your base. This takes a while but just keep building. Use both bigger and smaller twigs to give a messier look to the wreath, we don’t want it to be tidy and ordered. Make them go all ove...

Halloween DIY Fairy Crown

Bild
Time for my second Halloween DIY! This time it’s this spooky and magical crown to wear if you want to dress up as a fairy queen or a wicked witch or just to wear in everyday life. You could easily paint it white and put some glitter on it instead and be some kind of ice queen. The possibilities are endless! Materials: Twigs Wire Something to cut the wire with Paint A brush Glue gun Instructions: Start by making a long and bendy twig into a circle that fits your head. Gently twist the ends around the twig. It might look like a weird egg at the moment, but that’s okay. Then take the wire and wrap it around the twig. This will enable you to shape it into a circle. Then keep wrapping the wire around and start including twigs. Where you place the twigs will shape your crown, so try and compose it from the start. I wanted mine to be higher at the front and have like a triangular shape, but yours can be equal all around or whatever you want. I just kept attaching twigs with th...

creative challenge / 9. create something with a needle

Bild
So I was super excited to do some embroidery for this weeks challenge, but then I couldn’t find a good fabric for it and kind of didn’t have time to do as much as I had wanted. And I had forgotten how slow embroidery is, haha. Well well! I made this one for Halloween (of course) writing “wicked” which I found out is my favourite Halloween-word. Partly because it’s nice, partly because it makes me think of Ron.   Creative Challenge 2014-2015: Create something… 1. out of a book ✔ 2. out of newspaper clippings ✔ 3. using a computer ✔ 4. out of wool ✔ 5. out of glue ✔ 6. out of words ✔ 7. out of an old piece of clothing ✔ 8. out of a box ✔ 9. with a needle ✔ 10. out of things you find in the kitchen 11. out of something you would’ve thrown away 12. out of polymer clay 13. out of paper 14. with embroidery 15. using crochet 16. that is a collage 17. by destroying something else 18. ??? 19. ??? 20. ??? 21. success

Halloween DIY Ravens for your wall

Bild
Time for our first Halloween Wednesday! This time I’m showing you these easy DIY Ravens to put on your wall and create your very own unkindness. (Apparently a group of ravens is called an unkindness. 2spoopy4me.) It’s quick and easy and and super pretty. JUST DO IT. Materials: Black paper Regular paper Scissors A pen Instructions: Start by drawing the shape of a bird on a regular paper. This will be your template. If you don’t want to draw one yourself I’ve included my template at the end of the post. Then cut the template out of the paper. Pro tip #1: make a rough cut first and do the fine work when you have less paper to deal with. Helps so much. Flip it over to see if the shape is good, the lines from the sketching are so distracting. If not, cut some more, and when it looks good your template is done! Place the white bird on top of the black paper and trace a line around it. Pro tip #2: Remember that you’re going flip the black raven over so any ...
