I think I’ve decided what I’m going to exhibit, but I won’t spoil anything for the ones who are coming so I’ll show you what it was after the vernissage. my imprint / monthly makers: imprint

Bild
So here’s what I’ve created on the theme “imprint”. It works both as an actual imprint since it’s photography (the roses are actually scanography – I’ll show them on their own some other time) and I think they work with imprint thematically as well! Anyway, I thought I’d do this photo manipulation post a bit different than I usually do, so get ready for a lot of pictures because I’ve decided to share the process with you! They almost always start out as something completely different so I thought it would be fun to see some pictures from what it looked like during the process! Ready? Let’s go! I started with this picture of myself from a while ago . And then I added this picture of dried roses fromm this piece of book art on top of it. I tried concealing some of the rose picture using a layer mask so it was mostly focused on my face. And then I made the background picture black and white. And here’s when I switche...

what creativity is to me

Bild
– Having ideas – Having no ideas – Creating new things – Creating something and realising someone else has created it before – To be brave – To be scared – Believing in yourself – Doubting yourself – Staying up all night creating – Staying up all night procrastinating – Not being able to sleep because you have so many ideas – Not being able to sleep because you have no ideas – Everything – Nothing Creativity is a rollercoaster. You never know what up or down or upside down you’ll be the next day, but you just have to work it the best you can. It’s messy, but you just have to embrace that mess. ( Read here about why you should keep your ideas in an ordered mess . It’s really interesting. Creative Something is my new favourite website.) Honestly though, I really like this definition from Creative Something : “Imagination allows us to think of things that aren’t real or around us a...

artists to love: India Lawton

Bild
I found India Lawton the other day, the artist behind the most powerful series of pictures ever: Scars – the art of mangling photos . It was so intense and fierce that I was just completely blown away, like IT’S SO AMAZING. There’s something about the pure emotion in this that just makes me go bananas. Because it really is the art of mangling photos, as she has burned and scratched photos until there is nothing left but raw expression. The pictures suddenly become something more than they were before. The violently scratched faces are almost too symbolic to bare it – there’s so much emotion. I imagine it would’ve been very therapeutic to make these – to just get to express all the anger from all the times anyone ever wronged you. (Don’t you just want to try it?! I do!! I think it would help.) Don’t they always destroy photos in movies once some douche bag has cheated on them or something like that? Like they have some ritual wher...

blog survey

Bild
So, as it is a new year and everything I thought I’d finally do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now: learn more about you guys! And also a little bit about what you think about this blog! I did something similar years ago and it was so amazing to hear about the people who read this blog! If you link your own blog I’ll make a post with links to everyone’s blogs (and maybe a picture from them, if that’s not okay, please say so) and we can all find new amazing blogs to follow! So let’s just get to it: Where are you from? How old are you? What are your interests? What’s your favourite kind of blog post on this blog? What could you do without? Do you have any requests as to what you’d want me to write about? Do you have a blog of your own? Peace and thank you in advance. <3 And if you’d rather reply in Swedish, here are the questions in Swedish: Var bor du? Hur gammal är du? Vad är du intresserad av? Vilken är din fa...

prism photography

Bild
I’m really enjoying myself with my new ways of taking pictures, prism and crystals everywhere! I even have a new little device that I tried out yesterday that I haven’t even told you about – I will soon, I promise. But it feels like the prism photography was meant to be. Because when I was a baby I used to have this little prism thing that I would look through CONSTANTLY. Like CONSTANTLY. Especially in the car, it was the best. And this fascination with prisms or the just like a glass of water, the effects of that has really stuck with me. And then when I was a teenager I started looking through a camera instead. At first it was just a regular small one, but pretty soon I got myself a DSLR and I was just so fascinated. I saw the world through that camera, just as I had seen it through that prism years before. And now this. Finally, I have combined them, and I’m having so much fun. This is the ultimate thing for me, and I’ve been practicing for as...

inspiration monthly makers: imprint

Bild
Aska, 2014. So the first inspirational word of Monthly Makers this year is imprint/impression or avtryck in Swedish! ( Don’t know what Monthly Makers is? Read all about it here! ) It’s an exciting word that opens up for a lot of different interpretations! You can make prints using stuff, convey a story about something that has made an impression on you or just do something that ~feels~ like “imprint”. Like you can also make stuff about the way you make an imprint on your surroundings, how your surroundings make an imprint on you and so on. It’s a perfect month to discuss environmental footprints and body image, for example! Personally I’m thinking that every kind of photograph is some kind of imprint/impression! Just click the pictures to see more and go to the original posts. Magic, 2015. Alla himlar II, 2015. There’s something about the double exposure effect (although this is not quite a double exposure, but never mind) that feels very...
